transmission

so when you change your trans. fluid should you always adjust the bands and clutches? i have heard you should is this correct?

yeah, you're supposed to do the band adjustment....bolt for the rear band is underneath the trans oil pan....the front band adjustment is on driver's side of the tranmission....you can get to it at any time to adjust it....

I would not mess with it less than every 100,000 miles, unless you get some slipping.
Over adjustment can speed up replacement interval.

where did you come with this?? that is like over greasing a piece of equipment caused it to wear out faster!! improper adjustment can cause problems though.

You obviously know where I was headed with my less-than-clear comment.
OK - Frequent adjustments by us non pros opens the door to improper adjustment.
Too easy to tighten the lock nut incorrectly and over thghten the band.
JMO.

it is not rocket science to do and 1/4 turn + - is OK. actually if the band is far enough out of adjustment to need readjustment chances are you are not far from real trouble. that is after initial bed in and reset.
