trans question

I am having a issue with my trans in my 2001. My trans will not shift out of low gear till I back off the go pedal on my truck. I talked to the service guys at NADP and they told me to adjust the shift cable clip by slidding it forward a 16 th of a inch but I can not see the cable. Do you do this from the top or bottom of the truck. I need to know where this cable runs from trans to the injector pump or where. Thanks for the input Garry

You do this at the top. The cable attaches at the APPS sensor, under the plastic cover. Your year will either have a white clip that pops loose, or a black button to push. Either will release the cable and allow you to slide it both ways to either add or remove tension. You want to remove tension. Usually the point where there is no freeplay and no preload on the cable, at idle, is a good starting point.

Have tranny serviced by someone that know WTH he's doing. KD band probablly needs adjusting and can adjust throttle cable and shift cable if needed in less time than you spend reading post. It is also possible the RPM sensor on rear of tranny is interiment fail. New fluid and filter would finish job.
