Do a search on lock up hunting.

Bet it is what you are experiencing.

Good possibility. These are some of things have encountered:
I have topped tranny fluid at a half pint over full. Won't hurt and may cover a VB leak.
Make sure brake switch is not out of adjustment.
Check speed sensor at rear of tranny case for connections.
Check all major high current electrical connections, batteries, alternator, fuses, ect.
Use aluminum foil and wrap(shield) the alternator wiring to battery and cover electrical components. It doesn't have to be pretty and can take off or do better if helps.
Install a old ignition condenser from Alt output terminal to housing. This helps shield from brushes arcing and weak internal condenser. Or you can buy a 75 dollar shielding kit from tranny suppliers.

electrical/magnetic interferences, alternator wires with the APPS, accelerator pedal position sensor (tps on a gasser) you can try wrapping in aluminium tape.
check all the ground on your truck
have you checked for trouble codes?

I also had good luck using a Ferrite choke (use 2, one on each end) of the black cable with brown tracer. I also have it wrapped with aluminum foil and the chokes and no issues whatsoever. I also reset the apps and all is now well.

dieselmx, if the alternative remedies do not fix it, and you are sure you need to replace the APPS, look for the Timbo APPS thread, much cheaper and works like a champ.

In the end, on my 97, I had to replace the TPS.

I friend of mine, told to open the hood, check all ground that you find in the Engine comparment (I found 5)
use sand paper , clean them, put them back and re drive the truck, I did it and no more issues since then, defenitly was a electrical/magnetic interferences like all you guys told me, thanks for all your help!!

Now, time to buy gauges, performance box or chip to get a little more power for towing.

Thanks again.
