My advice to guys looking for a first rate local transmission shop is to go have a cup of coffee with the local 4X4 and off-road accessory supply house. The rockers and mudders are the worst on transmissions and learn where to find the best and most cost effective local shops that are generally owned by another off-roader.

If you have a place to work, pick up the book and do it yourself. They are actually easier to repair than a standard, but require real care in keeping everything clean. They also take a bit of patience and some special tools to properly set the clearances. First rate kits, tools, and instruction manuals are available from DTT, places like Txchange.com, and so forth.

If none of the above work, hit DTT's website and ask them for a local shop in your area that does their performance transmissions for diesels.
