tranny leak when in park
when I warm up my truck, if I leave it in park the transmission will start leaking in about 5 mins. but if I start it in neutral, it doesn't leak. apparently the pump kicks on in neutral but not park? as for the leak I pulled the inspection plate off and it leaks behind the torque convertor....but only when idling in park. any idea's

Is the tranny overfilled??? An it's leaking enough to tell it comes from behind the converter!! you will have to remove tranny to fix. I would get some leak detection dye in install a few minutes before removing trans. If you let it run to long it will be all over the housing and no clue where it came from.

the fluid level is fine but the one time I actually went to check where it came from I pulled the dust cover/inspection plate off and it looked like there was a stream running down from there in the inside part of the casing. usually it's no big deal as I just put the tranny in neutral and set parking brake to warm it up, but the one time I forget that the thing leaks was in someone elses driveway when I forgot to put it in neutral.
