Tranny ?

Hi all,
I am experiencing a shifting problem. When driving through the neighborhoods at a low speed in 1st gear, truck runs fine. When speed picks up to around 10 MPH and i am holding steady on the accelerator at about 1/8 throttle, the truck shifts into 2nd gear and it jerks back and forth like it is slipping. However, when I accelerate from a stop light, giving her about 1/4 throttle, it will shift just fine. It only does this when shifting from 1st to 2nd. I have reset the APPS. All other gears are good. Does this sound like a bad valve body? Seems to me like if the converter was bad, it would do this in all gears Any info appreciated.

I would give ATS a call to see what they think.

I second the Gov. Pressure Solenoid, of course mine did this very same thing when I first got it. Made the mistake of taking it to the dealer, they told me the Valve body was bad, cost me over $1,200. Sucks, cause I found this forum a few weeks later, (where lot's have had the same problem and fixed it under $300 guess I got beat a the dealer.??

Thanks for the info. Ive still got another 10 days on the road. When I return, i will be checking the governor solenoid for sure. I'll keep you all posted. One more question. Is the govenor solenoid an actual part of the trans? My stock tranny was doing this as well before i upgraded. Im wondering if this same govenor was used in the swap? Thanks.

If you can get ahold of a chrysler service manual for your rig you can do the testing proceedures they have in the book. I had that same problem with a DTT tranny and a Mojave Green TC. The DTT stuff was running perfect. The TC on the other hand was crap. Me and AlpineRAM did not figure this out until I went down and we ran pressure test on all the ports and compaired them to what the manual said. All of my problems were aimed at the TC and possibly gov. press. solenoid and gov. press. sensor. Now I will be odering a TC from DTT along with new sensor and solenoid.

PS The only reason why a bought the Mojave Green TC is because I purchsed it before I learned off how good DTT is. Now when I put a DTT TC in next month I will have a full DTT tranny and no worries for sure!

It's really bothering me that i'm out of town and have no resources, or my truck! To much time thinking about it all leads to depression. A service manual is next on my list. I was hoping this problem was not related to the tranny itself but rather external parts.

I think the service manual is the best mod available! IMO

dieselho- the pressure test for governor pressure circuit is very easy- you need to locate the port and put a pressure gage to it- even a tire fiill gage (only the gage) and a piece of rubber fuel hose will work. If the pressure is all over hte place at a certain speed the tranny must act up- meaning upshift- downshift-upshift etc. Call the vendor of your tranny to get precise instructions. (Also about the pressures you should get) .-
When I rebuilt 13Fox's tranny I reused the sensors and solenoids. Worked until the ATF got veery hot and some parts from the TC came floating along - I do not know whether ATS takes new ones or reuses them.

Just my 2c

The solenoid is an easy fix. Drop the pan and unbolt the bracket that hold the solenoid. Pop it out and put the new one in. I would suggest you give Dave Goerend a call. He has been working on these for awhile and has some new/modified solenoids that are much better than stock. Plus they are cheaper than at the dealer. http://www.gbtransmissions.com/
