i lather the pan with grease every oil change to prevent this, it works..

Whew! I saw this post and was going to reply when I saw Haulin' in Dixie's post; which was exactly what I did when I replaced my #6 piston. JonD had me panicked there for a sec. All's well that ends well...

i painted it with 6 coats of cummins beige engine paint. should last longer than the original . now i just need to do the power steering lines out of the box. they are so rotted if i look at them wrong they will blow.

Man, I guess I take it for granted linving in the dry desert where it only rains about twice a year! I cant imagine going through all the things you guys go through living in snowy and rainy areas. We get full sun about 360 days of the year! Its hot as hell, but I make sure my A/C is ice cold.

lol that won't work. the crossmember is part of the frame welded in under the pan thats what stops it from being an easy job. you can just lift the engine some.

when theres salt on the roads from november till may. its impossible to keep everything from rotting through. it dose not help that i commercially sand with this truck. with a 1 yard sander. wash it every day in the winter but still nothing works exept coating the whole under side with linseed oil.thats what i did to the 76 d300 i plow with.
