temp rise and fall

NEVER gets to 190*!

The needle fluctuates from about an 1/8"-3/16" below 190 to approximately 1/4" above the hash mark to the left of the 190 mark. Most often, the needle stays approximatey half way between 190 and the hash mark ... doesn't really move too much.

2000 year model they went to a 190 thermostat prior 24 valves had 180 thermostats. Not sure what the 12 valves have.

If you have never changed the thermostat to a 190 it is running right where it should.

I just changed my thermostat to a 190 about 2 months ago and my fuel mileage for winter has never been this good.
