rise and fall of rev's

my buddy has a 97 12valve, i love the way this truck sounds. and the way it rev's if you tap the go pedel, its rise and fall are instant. how come the 3rd gens reve so slowly if you know what i mean. thay rev like gassers

and why does his start up with just bearly cranking the motor over, and mine cranks a few rotations befor firing?

Because the electronic CTD engines need to receive all the sensor signals before the ECM will let it fire up.

as for the throttle response, it is probably because the old truck have cable throttles and the newer trucks are all "drive by wire" trucks.


Some cars/trucks have reported increased throttle response when you ground the throttle bodies of drive by wire car/truck..I had a drive by wire Mazda and when I put new grounds on the engine I DID notice and increase in throttle response...nothing huge but it did respond quicker.


I guess I should try it on my dodge and see if I notice anything.......

When I do a quick tap of the throttle in park it is slow to come back to idle. If it goes up to 2000 it seems like 2-3 seconds to come back down. Does anyone have any ideas.

I have not done it on my truck just the Mazda....I will try it and let you know tho
