Apps

I am having trouble with the Accelerator pedal position sensor also. I had stumbling / low power at lower RPM. To me it feels like your foot slipped off the go pedal. It took a few days before it got bad enough for the check engine light to come on. When I scanned for codes I got P0221, this is low voltage reading for APPS. I did the APPS reset and cleared the code. CEL has not gone on but it still stumbles and my confidence is shot. I am going to replace it ... dealer item... $640 Can.
Has your check engine light gone on?
Good luck
Alan

My Symptoms ;
Driving down the road at speed with my foot on the accelerator, the engine would drop to idle.
Stepping on the pedal would have no effect on engine RPM.
After 10 seconds or so, the throttle control would return usually follwed by the Check Engine Light coming on.

This occured two or three times a day.

What kind of truck do you have? We need to know that.

I got an APPS on Ebay for $184.50. It's working great. I'd order one online before I'd pay dealer price. Just my advice.

Check your codes. If you have a 24V, it's probably your APPS, but it could be worse things.......

I replaced my APPS which took care of my problem.
The original poster was asking for symptoms experienced with a failing APPS.

Sorry, I have a 2001 6spd dodge dually w/ 144,000 miles.

W/ new lifter pump, new speed sensor, fuel pressure light set to 5 lbs (does that sound right) Light does not come on when when this happens. Well, sometimes, it just flickers though.

Yes, I realize it could be the injector pump, but I'm being told it doesn't have the symptons of it. Easy to start, this happens very intermittenlty. When it runs, we can run 70-75 and that is pulling my horse trailer.

Autozone readers can't 'see' all the codes.

My APPS threw a code and lit the CEL every time I had the "Dead Pedal" symptom.
The injector pumps will act flakey sometimnes and not throw a code if the problem is more mechanical internals than electronic controls.
When my Injection pump died, I didn't get a CEL.
Just a 7.000 pound soapbox derby racer.

What does CEL mean. I am not a mechanic so I need words spelled out. lol, thanks.

So Autozone would not be good. I'm tired of the run aroundw/ my mechanic, and just tired of it. Why can't anyone figure out what is wrong.

Do mechanics just go by what the computer says anymore? What happended to good ole fashioned mechanics. I realize w/ computers and all that, but I am tired of parting to death my truck, and it still isn't running right.
