I sure hate to be a fly in the ointment here but you'll be doing it more than once. How many times more just depends on how long you keep your truck. I'm in the boat right there with ya brother, saving for a Blue Chip myself, don't know about the X but from all I have read Blue Chip is the way to go.

well I figure if I get the best money can buy and keep a 3" gas powered trash pump that flowes a coupel thousand gallons an hour out of the fuel tank and change it any time my LFP warning lights up It should at least minimize it.LOL
on a more serrious note, if the main problems are the diafram breaking due to lack of pressure, and the computer due to junk, the BC VP has a new diafram, internals, newest casings and the best computer. So if I keep the pressure up then, its pretty much up to the computer to hold up. if the Super X can save me some fuel than atleast it can pay for itself. (my thinking)

I've always felt that bluechip had a good sales pitch, and thats about it. $1600 for a VP pump, when you can spend $1050 for the EXACT same thing from another vendor? All pumps are built to Bosch specs. $2k for 22hp upgrade? And only a one year warranty? My HRVP had the exact same warranty, and cost a lot less than this (same price as their 'standard' build). My HRVP never gave me poor fuel economy either.

For $2k, you're almost at the price of p-pumping the truck, and once you do that, you won't ever worry about replacing vp's again. If you're staying with the VP, get a cheaper version of the same thing. No point in paying more money for something you could have for $600 less. JMO

I've been on the fence between Blue Chip & The Diesel Store & just went with The Diesel Store, can't beat a grand shipped & no core charge unless no core returned. Anyone know if The Diesel Store puts new computers on theirs?

so the diesel store does new comps and a new housing do they use a steel bearing or aluminum again? I under stand that I will more than likely have to do it again but most of the failures seem diirectly caused by the LP.

All I can say is this: I bought my truck used with an ATS race vp44. I pulled tons of weight cross country for 70k miles.. like as in up to 30klbs. It aint broke and Im now running WVO thu it. Others get error codes when they run WVO thru it and I dont.

and get a fass or park it.

That's what I thought until I recently did some research. I'm in the market for a reman VP44 so I contacted Bosch this past December via e-mail and I was subsequently contacted by the Director of Aftermarket Services. The following is his response:

Bosch does not require our authorized diesel service dealers to repair or remanufacture the VP44 injection pump. It is the option of the authorized service facility as to whether they want to invest in the equipment and training for the VP44 pumps or purchase VP44 pumps remanufactured by Bosch for resale. Feel free to ask your local Bosch diesel service dealer if they remanufacture the VP44 pumps they may sell or purchase remanufactured VP44 pumps from Bosch. That being said, we are not aware of any issues with VP44 pumps remanufactured by a Bosch diesel service dealer. You may find a listing of Bosch diesel service dealers at www.boschservice.com.

The VP44 injection pumps remanufactured by Bosch and subsequently offered for sale by some of our authorized diesel service dealers, have all of the updates. VP44 pumps that are remanufactured by some of our authorized diesel service dealers and offered for sale may not have all the updates. Remember, it is the option of the individual authorized service dealer as to whether they purchase remanufactured from Bosch or do their own remanufacturing. Again, I can say that we are not aware of any issues with VP44 pumps remanufactured by a Bosch diesel service dealer.

I just thought that I would pass this information along for what it's worth. At the very least I will be looking for a pump that has the following new components:

a. Pump Housing
b. PSG (the electronic control for the pump itself)
c. Timing Piston
d. Head and Rotor
e. Internal Supply Pump

Of course it would be nice if all the bearings, seals, and gaskets, were replaced as well.

Because BOSCH Or any other vendor for that matter that DOES not recognize a problem...does not mean it is not there, LOL . Turning a blind eye to it only helps not see the problem
Dodge has no problems with the Auto T.
'''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''' ''' with L.P.
""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""with fuel senders
""""""""""""""""""""""""""""with weak front axles
""""""""""""""""""""""with N.P transmissions
There are NO problems with your Dodge !!! (( LOL ))

BBlue Chip

Folks - I just finished the install of the super x from Blue Chip (old vp44 rotor siezed earlier in the week) followed directions and took about 4.5 hours. Very smooth install following their instructions, no issues except for 30-minutes bleeding the system using the FASS and bump key trick. I only have 70 miles on it, but I am very impressed with the smooth power band and noticable off-line increase from even when the truck was new. My only recommendation would be to replace tappet covers and gaskets while you have the IP off (Tappet Cover Gasket Cummins part# 3907617 for the gasket, 3900267 for the grommets), as it will save removing everything again later. I'll post a MPG, but on power it smoothed out the 40 MPH flat spot I had forever.

1882, when you got your pump did it come with new gaskets and 0-rings? I'm thinking that where I'm heading cause if I need a new one I've almost 1/2 paid with a BC.
