Stock Lift Pump Replacement Instructions?
#2
lift pumps on that truck are not to bad but are you going stock, relocated stock(in the tank), or aftermarket
I would recomend going aftermarket and instalation may be different than stock
I just replaced my stock LP (on the block) and it only took about 30 mins I wish that I would have gone aftermarket except for the cost

If removing the stock carter and going with a carter engine mount replacement, drain the fuel filter and remove. 3 bolts and move it out of the way. The rest is self explanatory, removing the filter canister just gives you MUCH more room to work. Agree to go aftermarket but if the pump is already bought maybe he could return it?
1st time I did mine it took about an hour being very careful, now I'll bet it could be done in 20 minutes on the side of a road.
Good luck and search the site, I tried my bookmarks and couldn't find the set by step instructions I used from this site but really once the filter is removed there are maybe 3 or 4 bolts to remove, a fuel line in and out and the electric connection.

I did not remove the FF housing when I removed my stock LP. I did not have any problems reaching down (on a cold engine) and replacing the pump. The most difficult part was trying to undo the harness from its pigtail, that really requires two hands and I had to lay down on top of the fender, engine and the radiator to be able to do that. From this convenient position it is very easy to loosen the banjo bolts, remove the plumbing and the pump. Plus, this eliminates the need to bleed the system.
