Startup Question
First of all I would like to say that this site rocks. It has been a great help in my search for a truck. I went and drove a few today. One was a 99 2500 4x4 auto with 192k, it is super clean and drove really good. My question is that when I first started it up, it was cold, I waited for the light to go off then cranked. It spun over good but did not start in a normal amount of time. Tried it again and had to give it a little pedal to make it start. After giving it some pedal it started right up. Is this something I should be concerned about. I did a search but did not really find anything that answered my question. This was the truck that I like the most out of all the ones that I drove. Any help or a link to some info that would help me would be great.

First welcome to the site...
Lots of good stuff here...
As far as the truck... ?I have a 99 for the last 4 years and have never had it take a while to start unless I was replacing some thing on the fuel lines.. read this as lift pump (lp), vp$$, or filter... I would also do a little research on the 98.5-200? year trucks..
my guess would be it will need a lp, or vp$$ relatively soon.. Did it have gauges??
Last thing is you can not go wrong with on of these trucks..

I have read up on this board and was hoping that it may be a problem other than one of the pumps. This truck looked to be all stock and had no extra gauges. I am going to look at another one tomorrow that has about half as many miles hopefully with a better result. After driving three of them back to back, I feel I know what I am looking for a little better, so today was not a total loss. Thanks
Change the fuel filter before you start replacing expen$ive parts. Lots of these trucks are bought by some pretty diesel-ignorant people, and they don't get nearly the routine maintenance that they need.
After a FF change, drop in a bunch of fuel additive. Lucas Upper Cylinder Lubricant is one of the best that's widely available. Otherwise try the "best"-- Fuel Power (FP60) from www.lubecontrol.com
Oh, and a hearty welcome to DTR-- I see these are your first few posts, so welcome!
