Solved my trans problems!! I went to the other side......

The 3rd gen side that is.. I didn't feel like spending $4000.00 on a new trans so I spent $15000.00 (after trade-in)for one with a truck attached to it. ;D
I now have a 03 3500 SRW quad cab long bed. The not so great news is that it is the standard CTD not the HO and it still has a 47RE. But at least it has a warranty. They had 1 HO CTD 3500 SRW left w/ the 48RE but it was a total strippo work truck and it was kind of ugly. The good news is that even the standard CTD has more power than my 98.5 w/ Edge EZ.
It is a little quiet though! Hmmm.....................

Gee I'm really gonna miss you guys. :'( I'll be hanging out in the 3rd gen room from now on..

By the way, I now have an 9 month old EDGE EZ for 98.5-2000 and also some **** extend-a-mirrors for sale....PM me..

They are not the full mirror. They are the ones that you attach to your existing mirrors and they are removeable. I only used them about 5 times.
$ 30.00

I thought someone had reported that the 2nd gen trucks with an EZ box were actually faster than the stock 3rd gen trucks, even though the peak HP numbers imply otherwise. anyone know the real story?

It depends on which "stock" 3rd gen you are talking about.

The main difference is the shape of the torque curves. The 2nd gen w/EZ doesn't put up huge peak numbers, but there is a LOT of area under the curve.

I would think that the 3rd Gens would be faster in both SO and HO form. BUT the 2nd gen w/EZ would have a LOT more grunt in the torque dept, like when towing.

I have a 2nd gen w/EZ, and I love it. Common rail is definitely the wave of the future. Sometimes i wonder if I should have waited for a 3rd Gen, but I love my truck so much it's hard to see why. I really like having all that space under the hood

Hohn

Re:Solved my trans problems!! I went to the other side......

cool, thanks. I wrestled with the 3rd gen question myself. I haven't read up on it, but suspect that the 3rd gens would respond REALLY well to the fueling boxes.

I got my 02 late in the year. I almost waited another four months for an 03 but in the end I decided that I didn't want four doors, a shorter box, lower susension, and a longer truck. I like the older body style better, and the 02 ETH/DEE was configured exactly how I wanted. I ended up getting the last one in town. Its a great platform for inexpensive medium level bombing, mainly because of the std transmission and HX35 turbocharger.

I'm thinking abou a fueling box but I have read about a new scanner dealers are getting which checks the computer memory and it can tell if you had a box plugged into the truck. I don't know if it's worth it......

wouldn't surprise me. is this scanner an 03 thing or for the older trucks as well? seems it would be pretty easy to test for a constant "9 lbs boost" which is what i think the edge boxes assert. But give Edge some time and they will prepare a smarter boost fooling algorithm that just compresses the dynamic range of measured boost levels to keep them within factory ranges.

That's "Trader" Chris!
At least I still bought another Dodge. I can't believe how quiet this truck is though! I pulled the silencer ring out to get a little more sound but it needs more....
It was an easy fix for the trans though Stamey!
