For months now I have been having a problem where my 1998.5 automatic 24V 2500 diesel has been "seeking lock up". It comes and goes mostly in the rain and no one seems to be able to fix it. It starts in overdrive but then gravitates into all gears where the rpms jump as the torque converter jumps around. The most recent idea was to replace the alternator which I did and the truck drove great for about two weeks. Then it started all over. It gets to the point where I can not even accelerate because the trans. just can't handle it. I did unhook the bateries and try the turn the key on 3 times and press the brake petal but not convinced that is all thats wrong. It has been to Dodge as well as 2 other trans. shops. Any ideas? You can try the search function on this site as there is tons to read about this known issue, or you can purchase a DTT noise filter (part number KW5535) and be done with it.
