Second Gen Question

I am thinking of going back to a second gen from my 2008.
My question is which transmission to get- 5 or 6 speed ??

Anyone with personal experience with these please respond as I have only ever had automatics with the Cummins.

Thank you,
Patrick

6-speed in my opinion. 5-speeds had their issues stock like the rear nut coming loose I believe.

5 speed is cheaper to replace/rebuild, 6 speed has a better spread for towing heavy. I have over 100k on a used 5 speed swapped into my truck, I replaced shaft bearings when installed and it is fine. I don't tow heavy very often anymore but still gross 15-20k a few times per year.
