RPM changes over time

My neighbor has a 1 ton, HO, 6 speed, 24 valve. When new at 70 mph 2000 rpm’s now 2200 to 2300 rpm’s at 70 mph.

Anyone have any ideas what might cause this?

Thanks

Only thing that comes to mind is changing to smaller sized tires... or adding a 4.10 rear end??
Both are probably unlikely... huh?

tires and gears are the only things that can change rpm. a computer flash, or bum speed or engine sensor could make it appear to be revving more.

unless it is an auto truck
