I have a Dana 60/70u axle combo with 3.55 gears. Can 4.10 ring and pinion's from the same 60/70u be swapped in? Or do I also need to swap the diff carriers?

 

It is my understnding the cases have different offsets. I know on some years the complete diff assy isdifferent bacause the hole for speed sensor is located in different position.

I don't think thy are making thick gear sets for 4.10s for our trucks. A spacer could be used, but I have destroyed more than one over he years in gassers, so I would say that's not a good option.

Most likely a carrier change will be required.

YES, you can swap to 4.10's WITHOUT changing carriers. The carrier break for both D60's and 70's is beyond the 4.10 mark. 4.56 and up requires a carrier change. 3.55, 3.73 and 4.10 share the same carrier.
