replace fuel module
replace fuel module
what do i need to replace my transfer pump,I want to put a conversion kit in my fuel tank on my 2001 dually. my machanic told me to get a fuel module conversion kit, and it would replacet the transfer pump on the side of the engine due to i was not getting enough fuel press. What do i need and does anyone sell it here ?? as i understand it will replace the unit in the fuel tank that sends the reading to the fuel guage also.
i need it asap

I am not sure that is a good idea. They just did mine under warranty, as I had a fuel leak. You may want to check with the dealer, as Cummins will warranty up to 100k, I think. I noticed no chnge in pressure when it was done. I have a Cummins campaign pump, which can still be a good deal if you can find them for $65. Most Cummins have gone up on these to $165.
I would stick withan OEM type, NAPA sells them. I would also go with the Vulcan big line kit. Not sure if you have an FP gauge, but I would get one, a mandatory option to keep your VP44 going. With the Vucan, it moves the LP down by the tank, where it can be changed out quickly. It also eliminates Banjo bolts, the seeming scourge of everyon on this site(Fuel line restrictions).
Vulcan also sells other pumps, proably a good place to start. Many differrent options, all have plus and minus. Many have good luck with FASS, but they are pricy and not without issues, sometimes.
If you go with the in tank pump, you are kind of stuck with that. If it needs repalcing not under warranty, I think it will be a big pain at best, with few options out. They do not seem to work that well, from what I have read.
Good Luck!
