Rebuilt VP questions? / observations

My VP is dead due to my own fault.

So calling around this week I discovered prices anywhere from $950 to $1600+ depending on what you want.

All claim New electronics, new barrel new wear parts etc. 1 year unlimited mile warranty.

All of the FI shops called claim to rebuild the pumps in house. Even though one of them mentions their vendor who builds the pumps calibrates their test stand every 25 pumps. and one of the others called is known for shipping VP's with non US country of origion stickers.

One of the performance type shops I called mentioned the vendor who they purchase their VP's from, is a shop that builds pumps for one of the high dollar houses we see talked about from time to time.

Where I am going with this is I feel like there are only 2-3 rebuilders of this style pump in the States maybe only 2-3 outsied the states and everyone purchases from them I just wish people would be truthful when asked about where the pumps built at etc.

As far as the quality I know everybody is suppost to have a Bosch test stand etc. and all of the companies I called have a good reputation I just feel like a little more honesty is warranted.

Just wanted to know if anyone else has had the same experince?

idk but agree with u 100%, my pump supposidly came from a local rebuilder, but has a cheesy chinese like sticker over the serial # that states model # and that it was remaned in the us...anyone can make one of those stickers on their computer. a us remaned pump from bosch dealer should have some sort of bosch factory seal that can be verifyed...i also think that most (not all) of the retailers u see are just middle men and not rebuilding the pumps themselves, nothing wrong with that as long as they are getten them from bosch dealers in us, but id like to c some sort of proof.

I used Source Automotive. Call them and I am sure they can fix you up. If you want to tap the pump wire left them know before you order. When I bought mine it was the same warrantee either way, but they have to know prior.

The way it was explained to me all Bosh pumps are rebuilt using the
latest goodies and a one year warranty is a one year warranty so unless you are going to a Hot Rod pump why pay more?
