Rear Transfer Case leak

I have what appears to be a leaky rear transfer case seal. However, doing research on this site someone else suggested that if the fluid is not dripping and being slung around the bottom of the bed of the truck it might not be a seal, but the yoke. Pardon my ignorance (for lack of experience with the transfer case) but what yoke is he talking about? My leak doesn't drip at all, but if you look at the bottom of the truck I have ATF all over from frame rail to frame rail, muffler and the underside of the bed. Any suggestions are appreciated. Thank you

clean your entire area and drive it slow on a road for a few miles and then check and see where its leaking. if it works down to the drive shaft or is leaking on any parts that are spinning its going to throw it. clean it and see how bad its leaking but pull the plug on top and make sure you have oil in it. not sure how much you have lost. there are alot of seals on the case plus the case has stress spots that will crack. but also the outer boot will leak

I have seen the plug in the slip yoke seeping a little. If that is what they are refering too. The trans fluid is then slung out above front ujoint. Take a look between ujoint and the plug in yoke if trans fluid is there then the yoke needs to be replaced.

1 - SLIDING YOKE
2 - PROPELLER SHAFT
3 - PINION YOKE
4 - CLAMP
5 - SCREW
6 - OUTPUT SHAFT

There is also a chance front driveshaft seal could be leaking. Rubber star washer between nut and flange could also cause a leak.

Mine leaked after two seals and we finally cleaned out and put a gob of silicone in the yoke and it finally quit leaking. My trans guy suggested this.

I think BigIron's post above may be what mine needed to be done correctly!

Its not the front of the t-case thats leaking. I see more fluid residue dripping from the seal, long boot coming out of the back of the transfer case which leads me to believe the seal, I just wanted to explore the options of what it might be.

I would lean to either your seal or the yoke itself (there could be a groove worn into it). However since the yoke doesn't sit in the same spot 24/7, I would assume it to be your seal. Doesn't hurt to check your yoke though to be sure!
