Looks like a homemade job from a dana 60 to me. Owner cut out pumpkin and replaced center section with tubing, welded and ground down, painted etc.

Why? not sure. Thought maybe a Ford Super Duty swap but those aren't tube, they are I-beam shaped.

Dodge heavy duty front ends are two piece a-arm type IIRC.

Can't see the picture, but I would bet it is a cab and chassis HD model.

Not uncommon at all.

Patdaly, is that the "normal" front axle for an HD cab/chassis of that era?

That rear leaf pack is quite a stack for a 3500, but it is a wrecker body on there...

Yes that was an option for a 2WD truck with higher GVWR than the normal independent suspension would allow. There weren't many sold, but I remember 2 that I used to work on all the time. Both were 95s.

Looks like the standard chassis cab config to me. We've got a flatbed dodge chassis cab here at work. Its an 01 or 02, V8 gas auto, 2wd. front axle is a solid tube and lots of springs on the rear.

Yep, standard cab and chassis, I finally saw the pictures. One other oddity with the cab and chassis, there is about a 2" or so wheelbase difference, you can put a dually bed on one, but it leaves a gap between the bed and the cab.

Them was some heavy duty mothers.

Another oddity is a 2WD 3/4 ton with a factory dummy transfer case and lever, it was an option so you could run a PTO. I have only ever seen 2 of those.

Cool! I love the low pro trucks that cause mystery.

Kind of Dodge's version of a SUPER DUTY I guess..

Nice looking truck other than all the rot.

Good Info!!

Doh, now I have seen 3.......there is a blue one on Craigslist, a 94 2WD for 3,900. Pretty nice looking truck, wish I could use a 2WD...... If anybody is looking for a rare as all get out unit, look at Central Illinois Craigslist and search Dodge Cummins.
