My dad has a 00 dually that just doesn't have the power that is used to. I tried to drain some fuel while it was running, and nothing will come out... with the engine off, I changed the filter..... the fuel canister kept filling with fuel??? I've never had that happen before..... I can also not hear the lift pump running in the tank? Could the lift pump be dead and the VP44 still pull enough fuel to allow the truck to run half way decent???

 

the more i learn the more i realize how little i know. but if u were me u would run to the phone and tell ur dad not run that truck. not until he gets a fuel pressure gauge. also 00 CTD lift pump stock should be on the left rear of the engine block, unless replaced by DC. if the lift pump is bad the I pump(VP44) is next. at a low low cost of about $1200. read my horror story at 02 dreaded dead pedal. top of the page on HELP.
