Power Steering Noise ?
Hi all, I searched thru the posting but didnt find much. I have a 2000 CTD, see signature. I have what sounds like a power steering noise / vibe at low RPM's when driving. I can really feel it in the steering wheel more than I can hear it (you all know the diesels are kinda loud ). Nothing much at idle or high RPM's just when I am driving along at a good speed and let off a little. I read some forums about the Royal Purple Fluid helping. Should I try this or is my pump going out, or something else?

Re:Power Steering Noise ?
I too have the exact same problems, the dealership replaced the power steering pump with no change. My friend has a 2000 and his does the same as well. Dont know if synthetic will help but I may find out soon. I dont think it is anything to worry about but it is annoying. Mine has been doing it for 50000K with no ill effects and it isnt getting any worse.

Re:Power Steering Noise ?
If you're talking about a hiss/buzz sound (like its low on PS fluid), that can be caused by a restriction (kink) or even sharp turns in the return line. You should open your reservior to see if the fluid has a layer of bubbles on the top. That's a sign that the fluid is foaming. It can also be caused by air getting in the pump inlet (which usually doesn't happen unless the fluid level is low).
