Question Power steering noise

I replaced my sloppy steering box with a carquest rebuild last summer. I was not very impressed with the box and now it has started making a noise. When I make hard turns it makes a "woomp" sound at the same place in the steering. If I go lock to lock it "woomps" in the same place 3 times. Anyone had this happen? It sounds hydraulic to me. Steering gear? Steering pump?

Are you sure your not hearing steering linkage slop or something rubbing?

To eliminate any hydraulic problem add a bottle of Lube-Gard PS treatment. It will quiet down any PS system, especially the cold weather whine.

You probably should crawl under there while someone turns the wheel, so you can see what's loose. That's what it sounds like to me.
