power steering
Now that it is getting cold way up north, I have a question regarding a loud power steering noise. It sounds somewhat like an old ford except louder. I have had two hydro boosters replaced the last one within the last 1000Km, both times before failure it made this noise. I dont know if its cold related or my hydro booster going out again. Does anybody else who is lucky enough to live in an ice age have this same issue?
Valvoline is the only Synthetic PS fluid I know of...could not find it anywhere around here. I used Amsoils Synthetic ATF and it works great. I know Dodge advises not to use ATF in power steering because of brake assist system, but I watched it closely for the first year and had no problems, probably because it is a full synthetic. For all other makes of vehicles, PS fluid is ATF.

Have always suspected Royal Purples Synthetic PS Fluid (Max EZ)is the identical product to their Max ATF. Would not be uncommon for a company to bottle one product under two different Labels (applications).
The Technical Data on these two products are identical...Boiling Range, Pour Points, Flash Points, Autoignition Temps, Specific Gravity, PH's, Vapor Pressures, Etc. Also Components (on MSDS sheets) read identically for the two products.
For that matter, Valvolines Synthetic PS Fluid may be same as their Synthetic ATF.

I hadn't thought of that, but I bet you are right.
