Power Steering

I have a 2000 Ram 3500 Cummins, I had the power steering pump go out, so I replaced it, did a seal kit in the vacuum pump and changed the fluid in the PS.
I now have limited power steering and a howl in the steering and when I apply the brakes. Any suggestions??? could I have gotten a defective pump? have something hooked up backwards? air in the lines? I have done limited driving with it since the work and nothing has changed.
Thanks for your help,

David

What fluid did you use? Do not use ATF+4 must use Power steering fluid only.

Did you run it and turn the wheel lock to lock a few times?

Sounds like air in the system to me. The hydroboost should work it out, but it takes a while I have read...

Did you have it running while up in the air and turning the steering?

Sorry if that sounds like a stupid question...... I have had it take 10 or 12 times back and forth while in the air to bleed completely.

Then I would have to suspect a bad rebuilt pump.

Make really sure you have all your lines good and tight, any opening that can allow air in will cause it as well, but USUALLY if you have a leak that big it also leaks fluid.

i kinda had the same problem. i couldnt get the reman one to bleed all the way it was still making noise and wasnt right. The pump eventually gave out and stopped doing anything. I took it back and got another one and bled it out and it worked perfectly.
