Sometimes the trans pops out of third. Not under acceleration, just like slowing down going over railroad tracks, around a corner, etc. If I don't pull it down into 4th or 2nd first, it will grind if I try to put it directly back into 3rd gear. I guess it isn't pulling past the synchros unless I switch gears first. Is there a shift stop I can adjust or is it just starting to show its age? Tranny has about 125k miles on it.

 

I just went through the same problem....bad synchro. There is no adjustment. I would recommend ordering a set of brass synchros from Blumenthal. www.blumenthalmfg.com The tranny shifts like new now & the brass lasts longer too. If you have a rough shift....at 125k on the clock your detents may need changed also.

 

I had trouble with 5th gear falling out of gear whenever I let off the throttle. I lost it soon after so you ought to have it looked at.
