Please Explain This One

Reading old forums and found out about the silencer ring, removed mine and although can't tell alot of difference in the whistle, I did see a much increase in fuel pressure. WHAT! not happy with fuel pressure since installing new lift pump from o'riellys, runs around 6 to 8, check with o'rielly's about this, long story short, Looking into maybe getting a different brand and o'riellys is going to honor warranty and give refund. could not wait to run truck with silencer ring removed and now fuel pressure stays @ 10 or more. ?????

Am I the only one that is a little confused here?

As far as I know all the silencer ring does is reduce turbo whistle.

I was just being a bit sarcastic...removing the silencer ring increases fuel pressure...like mine gives me 50HP.

You are correct, all that it does is reduce turbo noise.

A lot have "silencer ring removed" as if that's a mod listed in their signature. That confuses me.

No offence meant.

It is not at all confusing. Having the silencer ring removed modifies your hearing in a way that cannot be repaired, and it does it more quickly and efficiently than if you leave the silencer ring in place.
Lots of people like turbo "whistle". I am more neanderthal. I like my hearing. Therefore, I leave the ring in place, because in reality, it does nothing for performance, so why be bothered. Oh right... WHAT??????

Yeah, more power, BIG POWER.

I know exactly what you mean.

It's been real cold here all week. I have been watching my fuel pressure closely because of that. All week it has been run less than normal but only a few pounds less. Yesterday at work during lunch time I checked my oil and placed a bungie cord around the BHAF because the old one turned up missing.

Going home from work my fuel pressure was back to normal.
