4897668-af......... this is what show on my invoice from the *******, next day ce light came on again and code 216 was set again. the description on the invoice says modul kit 1406/004. reason i ask is i think the service manager is afraid of me kickin the crap out of him and he's just blowing smoke to steer me away from the inevitable *** chewin he's gonna get for not fixin my truck right the first time and having it break down on me out of town.

Here's what your scenario sounds like. P0216 was set. You took the truck in where they found a bad lift pump. If the lift pump is so bad to the point that the VP is actually drawing fuel up to itself it can indeed set this code. They installed a lift pump and cleared the code. This is where the crossroads are, you may have driven your truck a long happy life without seeing the 0216 again, or the damage is done and you are in need of an injection pump. Have you had any drivability probs? (stumble-miss-cutout etc...?) Hard to make any calls with out working on the truck first hand, but I've had this repair go both ways too. The p/n you put is for a lift pump as well as the 05080885aa. Same pump, only one has a wiring harness kit with it (basically an extension cord).

Can you use the key on/off/on/off/on trick to check the codes, or do you need the OBDII scan tool? Mine is a 98.5

when the ce light came on the other day i was pulling my trailer and had just coasted a few hundred yds. when i hit the accelerator again there was almost no power at all, then everything started working again just fine, but the light was on.

got a call from the dealer, they're replacing the "transfer pump" and injection pump... extended warr just paid for itself.
