lift pump part number
lift pump part number
what is the lift pump part number on my 2000 SO cummins 5 speed? I searched, but must not be very good at it
the local dealer wanted something like $260 for one. I thought I had seen people on here say they were cheaper

okay, called around a little bit, found that there are a few numbers. The company I bought my vp44 from has the 3944818, the older or oldest model for $75 apiece or $100 for 2 of them. she said they didn't have access to the 3945812, the 3948431 or the most recent, the 3938435.
I hope this hasn't been beat to death, but I didn't find it in search. Is it worth running the older 3944818, or is it a waste of time that is going to leave me stranded? If so, where do I look to get the newer part number ones (if they are that much better.) The way it looks right now is that I can buy 4 from this company for $200 and keep 3 in the truck with me and the tools to change it under the seat. I have a gauge and watch it like a hawk. I am uncomfortable seeing the 6.5 or 7 psi at WOT.
advice anyone? Are the old ones that big of a piece of junk?

I replaced mine about 6 months ago. The Cummins Numbers I was quoted at the time were 3990082 for the pump AND harness and 3990105 for the pump only.
I ended up getting the 3990082 from Cummins Rocky Mountain because, for whatever reason, it was actually cheaper... $155.
Seems the numbers you have are all different. Who knows... really. I'll be going with a FASS II when this one gives out. First one lasted about 40,000 miles. This one shows 15 at idle (after warmup) and has lasted about 7,000+ so far. I have larger banjos as my only fuel line mod.

part numbers I got were for the transfer pump from edwards equipment (cumminstuff). They got me the right vp44 and it runs great. She was pricing me lift pumps for the same truck. I don't know what the heck her numbers were for or what they cross to.
Anyone else see these numbers I have as familiar?

You can get here for the lowest price I've found on the latest model (3990082).....
