One more cracked 53 now what

Just noticed some antifreeze under the truck this morning. Checked under the turbo and there is antifreeze residue along the block. I havent found the crack yet (its not leaking bad yet). Im just wondering what is the best way to go about fixing this. New block, new motor, stiching it any other options. With a new motor is it feesable to put a new common rail motor in. Also I read somewhere that someone recieved help from either Dodge or Cummins, they paid for half of the total cost. Any info is greatly appriciated.

I'm guessing that you are out of warrenty, so either you have to get another block and swap over all internal parts. What i have seen on here could cost upto 8-9K. Buy a complete used motor and swap. Or what i would try first is the lock and stitch, they drill the ends of the crack and then fill in the crack and seal. blh1960 had this done last month and i believe the cost was under 1K and was done with the motor in the truck.

Go to http://www.locknstitch.com/ Get the contact phone number and ask them to run a search for trained people near you.

My stitch repair is still holding. I've rolled the dice, its time to see what happens. It has been about six weeks now.

For the time being you can pour some bars stop leak in the system. I did this and it seemed to help some. Get it done as soon as possible because it will likely grow, and get worse. They will stop the crack by drilling beyond both ends.

Good luck,
