Oil Pan Plug Question

The first two times I change the oil in my truck I reused an existing copper washer to seal the oil drain plug. This never leaked a drop.

Well, since then I bought a couple of the correct oil pan plug gaskets from Cummins. The other day I change the oil and installed the new metal/rubber washer/gasket and guess what, it's leaking. It leaves about a 2" diameter spot on the ground overnight.

Any ideas or tips as to how to fix this would be appreciated.

Thanks
Brad

I installed the Fram quick change kit on mine, it made oil changes a breeze and has never had a single drop from it. I got it at Autozone for around $15. With this kit you never have to take the plug out so you don't have to worry about the copper gasket.

What's the part number for that Sure Drain. I actually bought one for my first oil change but I guess I had the wrong one. It was the wrong size.

How long does it take for the Sure Drain to drain? I had a fumoto valve on a Yukon I used to have and it took almost an hour to drain.

Was the oil ice cold? My Fram quick change kit makes so quick I do my oil Chang in 1/2 hour start to finish. Just ask them at the contour thy will git the correct one for you.

You have a 99, which is different, 22mm. Fram doesn't make a kit for our trucks. I went with the Fumoto valve. I think it was around $20. Geno's sells them or you can get them directly from Fumoto. They have a lever on the side that you turn to drain the pan. They come with or without a nipple to attach a hose.

Sorry I didn't realize the 99's had a different drain plug. I love mine, I just stick an empty milk jug underneath and then stick the kit's hose in the jug and then screw it into the plug, as it screws in it pushes up the plug and lets oil start draining out, as the jug gets full I just unscrew it and swap jugs then screw back in and fill the next jug. I can also do it in 30 minutes if warm but during the winter if the oils cold it can take forever. The only oil I get on my garage floor is from the dang oil filter, that things a pain in the a__ to get out of their without spilling any.

Do you pull the intake hose out? Makes changing the filter so much simpler and less messy.
