oil pan

can the oil pan on the 2nd gen. be removed without a major hassle?

In a word, no. The pan can come off with the engine in the truck, as a matter of fact the pan must come off to remove the engine unless the trans and adaptor plate is removed, and even then it generally has to come off.

The engine must be lifted about 4 or 5 inches to clear the crossmember, then it will clear the crossmember.

thanks, i seen where guys had insulated the pan for noise reduction, i was thinking of taking it off and spraying it with bedliner. would there be any heat issues when insulatd? i may be able to do it while still on the truck.
