OEM turbos?
I'm looking for a cummins 5.9 core and I have a few questions about the oem turbos that came on the ISB and the ISB HO's.
First off, are the turbos the same between the regular ISB and the HO version?
Are they HX's or HY's?
Is there such a thing as an HY35 or HY40
Has Cummins EVER used an HX 40 on any 5.9 in a dodge?
What turbo is used on the Gen 3 Cummins?
I'm getting some conflicting info on this crap so I want to find out all I can so I know a little better who I should watch out for!
Thanks,
Brent.

Don't get an HY35 turbo. Although they spool up insanely fast, they are very restrictive. An HX35 is slightly better and can be used in a small twin turbo setup. The HY turbos come on either the 99+ or 2000+ automatic trucks. The manuals have the HX35 as does the HO. All the third gens, automatic or stick, have the HY35.
