obd II p1698

I know the definition of this code, but do any of you have any idea about how to fix it or why it gets set or have any of you ever dealt with it.

There is very little info. on it out there.

Got it in my 2002. It is an intermittent problem.

Only mod is Banks powerpack, ottomind, and hifi stuff.

Thanks in advance, any info. is greatly appreciated.

Got a MIL light and its driving me nutso.

Sounds like dirty connectors.

The PCM is on the passenger side firewall.
ECM is on the drivers side of the engine (I think?)

I'd remove those connectors, clean them up, dialectric grease to keep out future moisture, reattach.
While your at it, do the same with all the Banks and ottomind connectors.

Moisture in a connection huh? I don't really buy it, but I'll definitely check it out. Thanks for the replies. On the ottomind, I did cut the orange wire in the center connector to send the torque converter lockup signal to the new electronics, I redid all that wiring. As far as the map and iac, if those were bad, why would that send a tranny code? If those were incorrect, it seems the consequences would be far worse, besides they are sealed

I will definitely check, but if I can't find, I'm reluctantly going to the dealer. crap. only 41,000 miles.

No ccd/j1850 messages from electronic transmission control module(aisin control module)

Do our vehicles even have a electronic transmission control module, and if so where is it.

I mean I have the factory service manual and scan tool and I'm still at a loss on where to go from here. I couldn't find anything in my 120$ factory service manual on it?

A mil is just not acceptable for me.

any more advise?

Rick =)

Where are you getting transmission?

P1698 No CCD Messages Received From PCM

is what I have for the code.

Code readers are too generic, they often say the wrong thing.

In the back of the factory service manual both code descritptions exist, so, we are both right.

Both have to do with CCD messages. one FROM pcm. one FROM tcm.

Go figure. the **** things broke and it pisses me off. You have no recourse but to go get screwed at the dealer when this stuff happens, it always boils down to a wire or a little screw or something any dumb redneck could figure out with the right tools.

It really makes you mad when it's due to poor workmanship. When you've done something like the ottomind and baks powerpack it makes you second guess your own workmanship and brings banks into the picture as well. Ain't life Grand.

If it isn't simple enough, they won't fix it, and charge you anyways. What a pain. Life's better these days, arguably, but its surely not as simple as it used to be.

The mil light will go off as soon as I drive into the dealership parking lot too. They probably have some infrared scannner that makes everything work when your close to the garage.

Thanks for the help, but I think I will probably be giving daimler/benz my money tomorrow. 41,000 miles, geez, I wish the japanese would build a truck this beefy, I would go trade in tomorrow and it would never break. They got the discipline, but not the resources.

Thanks again.

Rick =)
