Alex C. Peper - OBD II software & Win2k?
Alex C. Peper
http://www.obd-2.com
Is anyone out there running this software on a laptop using Windows 2000???? I've tried two seperate laptops (both Compaqs).
The serial port is enable in the bios. Running the latest version of the software : 1.06
I'm out of ideas at the moment. It won't "connect", its the Tricom. Tried it on my Dads 01 Ford F150 SuperCrew, my sisters 99 Pontiac Grand Am and of course my truck........all no connection.
Tips? Suggestions?

In the W2K device manager is the serial port banged out? What model Compaq products are you using? If not I would try changing the serial port com numbers.
Here's the numbers you can use:
COM1 IRQ/4 ADD/03F8h (default)
COM2 IRQ/3 ADD/02F8h
COM3 IRQ/4 ADD/03E8h may not be supported
COM4 IRQ/3 ADD/02E8h may not be supported

Hi guys - KatDiesel and I got this working late last night...
It ended up being a configuration parameter in the OBD-2 software. We had to tell it we were using the "Tricom" connector... anyways, we're now scannign codes and logging data!!!
thanks for the replies!!!

So how did you connect it? Do you have to buy a connector from them, or were you able to make one yourselves? If so, can you put up a diagram or something? Thanks.

You can visit the link above. You purchase the cable from them, and then download the software "free". You can download it and check it out before you buy.
Theres a couple of others available as well.

I do use an OBD2 scanner from Germany called AMX530- I like the fact that I can read and log data etc from European and US vehicles. http://www.obd-2.de/ (Site in German). Seems to be a cooperation with the Alex Peper stuff.
Small problems with losing the connection sometimes while using an UB-serial adapter but the rest is OK

Kat,
Didn't you know of someone who installed road relay 4 in the past? I thought you may have, or maybe it was someone else. If there is anyone out there who has it, or knows someone who does, I would be interested in hearing your thoughts.
