NV5600 shift problem
I recently purchased a 2002 Ram2500 4x4 with the 6 speed. There is a slight grind on the 2/3 shift for the first few miles even with the outside temp in the 70's. The truck has 32k miles on it so it should be broken in by now. Does anyone know if DC has a fix for this or should I even bother with the dealer? It's still under warranty. Would a different type of gear oil help?
camelracer,
That is pretty standard for the NV-5600. It is not the smoothest shifting manual around. Lots of people try running a synthetic gear oil in it. The most popular one seems to be Redline MTL. I have run it in my truck for about 2 weeks now, seems to help a bit.

i used redline and it was a great improvement. a lot smoother.
but if you still have warranty be careful. i believe others have said some of the dealers wont warranty the tranny if redline is in there. legally, they would have to because redline meets and exceeds the properties of the DC tranny oil but you would have to battle.
just go for it and be happier, Pat
