Angry NV5600 Cracked

I just pulled my transmission to replace the clutch. This is what I found once it was out. I've never heard of this but I'm sure I'm not the only one with this. Any suggestions on how this happened? Truck is a DD and I don't tow much. If I do its not more than 10,000lbs. From what I've read its a total transmission disassembly to fix. Any hints would be great.

That is the bellhousing, not the trans...

Haven't seen or read about this before. Belhousing shouldn't be too steep to replace.

The bell housing is an integral part of the transmission on the 5600. If you build up one of these. Step one is put bell housing on the bench as the base of transmission. Then you start putting all the guts together and fit the case over it. I'm looking for the parts, and might try the replacement myself. But if anyone has any hints, tricks or wise words please let me know.

I'll look in my FSM, but am pretty sure its not that big of a deal....

It almost looks like the trans may have been left unsupported previously. I notice it is marked "OK" like maybe it was a junkyard/replacement trans.

As you are now aware, the 5600 is no lightweight.....

Good luck!

The Bellhousing is an integral part of the 5600! My bad.

I wouldn't think the bellhousing would be too hard to find, you may have to buy an entire lunched 5600...I hope not.

I'd have it welded before I did the job of changing one. It's somewhat of an ordeal to replace.
