NV5600 2WD output shaft seal?

It looks like I have a leak that's coming from the output shaft. I looked in the FSM and it seems to have a bunch of "special install tools" listed. Does anyone know what is involved to remove/replace?

Well I took a better took, and this rubber seal thing was lose.

Is that the actual seal, or just a dust boot? If it's just the dust boot, and it was lose, then the trans wouldn't necessarily be leaking, then my seal is probably bad anyway?

Looks like the seal to me. The one on my NV4500 was like that. Jobber seals were just your ordinary lip seal, but the DC seal looked like that. A set of chisels was all that I needed to pull mine, and a hammer and a 3" ID PVC pipe for the install.

Thanks Tate.

I don't know how, but mine just got lose. Probably because I drove around for a year without a bed (not enough sprung weight) The truck bounced around a lot more than it should have.

I ended up just tapping this seal in, topping off the fluids and it has been bone dry since. Of course this is after I bought a new aftermarket seal and $20 worth of Pennzoil syncromesh fluid . At least now I will be prepared for a tranny fluid change on the side of the road.

For 1 time it looks like Daimler's version of someting seems to be BETTER than aftermarket. That seal works pretty nicely. Thanks for the info.
