I just bought this teuck knowing that I needed to do some tranny work. It has a 5 speed right now and 3rd gears is missing 3 teeth and the bottom shaft were third rides has a tiny chip on the edge. Either way I want to rebuild the Nv4500 but I found a NV 5600 for a decent deal. Now can I just unbolt the nv4500 and put the 5600 in. I would like to know asap as this tranny isnt gonna stick around for long for the pricw hes asking. The tranny is currently in a 2004 2500 reg cab long box write off. I have access to all the rest of the parts. If I need the flywheel clutch etc from the 2004 I can get it. My 1999 is a ext cab long box.

 

Should go right in.

You may need the spacer at the starter if it's a larger input shaft and larger clutch, which it should be from 04'. You may also need to adjust the length of your driveshaft.

BTW it is unbelievably heavy, use the proper jacking method to handle it safely...

 

Ok thanks. Ya its a large input. Well the guy has a nv4500 too but im thinking if I can get both of them ill convert my 94 auto to a 5 speed and once its done ill convert the 99 to a 6 speed. Were does a guy the the spacer from and ive found a few write ups on it but not many.
