I have a 5 speed in my 2000 cummins and when i put it in 3rd gear the weight of the gear shift will pull it into neutral. what is the cause of this is the synco going bad or what? any suggestions would be great.

 

Natew051, does it fall out of gear all the time, Orders/Returns just when you let off the throttle with it still in gear? Also, how many miles does your tranny have on it?

 

Mine does the same thing, I have a 01 and some times when I pull my trailor is does the same thing only when I let off the gas. Maybe someone on here knows how to fix it, also mine has a little bump in the shifter before going into 3rd also.

 

Mine did that in 5th. It would stay in gear for hours in cruise, but would fall out as soon as I coasted. The gear went out soon after. All I can say is, trouble is probably around the bend.
