My np241 LDL is going out on my 01 Ram. I've done some research and called around and found that the np271 will bolt up to the nv5600 with only having to modify the rear driveline. I would assume the same would apply for the nv4500, but I want to make sure before I make any decisions. Does any body know if this is true or not?

Should be a direct bolt in other than shaft lengths front and rear and possibly so minor shifter tweaks. I know the case is a little tight fitting on the frame rail but will fit. I have never done the swap but I know that my G56 has a 241dld hanging of the back in my 95 with no mods other than shafts and the shifter linkage moved to the floor (my truck had the old style linkage that mounted to the trans).

 

It will bolt right up,you will need to get a new output yoke for the 271, and have a driveline made. Make sure you get a 271 that was behind a manual trans though with a 29 spline input as the ones from auto trucks are 23 spline and wont work. Output yoke part #5183084AA and I paid like $70 bucks for it from the dealer. Where are you located in WA? I have some pics of the swap if you want them pm me.

Rob24- I see your signature says you have the nv5600 w/ np271, do you have a nv4500 mated to a np271 or know of someone who has?
I'm in the Tacoma area and thanks for the part# that will come in handy also thanks for the picture offer but that's not necessary.

 

I had the my 271 mated to the 4500 before I swapped in a nv5600, it worked well, I just got tired of rebuilding nv4500s,
