not starting as quick
not starting as quick
lately my truck has not been starting as quick or i'll crank it over wait then it fires up on round 2. i recently had my injectors out to put in new gaskets/o-rings, can it be related to that if a line or injector is loose will it cause starting issues.
anything i can check for?
last year my truck would fire up very quick even at low temps ie -20
thanks

From: North Carolina or Kentucky. Take your pick
Seems a controversary over what will cause long crank times. Supposedlly a air leak on return side can cause. The overflow valve seals, the T fitting at rear of block, the connector tube O rings, and fittings at fuel module are prime canidates at this time. On the supply side would be fittings back from banjo bolt all the way back to fuel module.
Good luck, I am fighting the same issue from past posting. Had to leave DD in Kentucky as feared VP44 would be endangered.

I started out with the same problem, longer and longer crank times. Now if it lower than 50 degrees it will not start. If I plug it in it will start up with no problem. Yes the grid heater works and even if it didn't it should still start at 40 degrees with no problem.I replace the fuel pump every year after the 1st vp went south.I feel your pain, I have no confidence in the truck. 2001 3500 Edge EZ J Hook.
this may seem off the wall, but my 99 was slow starting and found out that my passenger side battery was bad,, changed it, and starts like new again,, dont know if thats your problem, but it was mine,,, good luck
yea I've been dealing with that for a few weeks now. tryed cleaning the overflow valve, that seamed to make it worse. So i got a new valve, still hasn't fixed it. So i guess i have to do some digging to figure this one out.
Did you put in new copper washers on the injectors? Are you making oil/fuel in oil? Since you say your were doing injector work, I'd start looking there. If you have no external fuel leaks, I'd say its safe to say your connector tube o-rings are not the cause. Apparently a poor seal on the copper washers will cause a very quick bleed off situation, causing hard starts. Maybe you just have a small leak there.
If it is acting random, it could be a vp thing? I know my old HRVP, after running it for a while, would have longer crank times before it fired up. Will it fired if you just bump the starter, let the LP prime, and then crank it?
