Question No power from 1100-1600 rpms

My dad is having trouble with his 2001.5 6sp/HO truck having no power in the middle rpms. It started as a surging problem and has evolved into very low power from 1100-1600rpms. Some of the symptoms I read about on the APPS sensor sound similar but the same problem occurs with cruise control set. With this truck being a late 2001 with the electronic cruise we didn't think the APPS sensor would be involved. He has a fuel pressure gauge and monitors the lift pump and it is working the same as when new. Is this going to be an injection pump failing or is there something else we can test first?

Check for codes...

Could be a cam position sensor/crank position sensor..

We have checked codes and are seeing a P0237 which points to the MAP sensor. We are going to try swapping his out with mine tonight to see what happens. The low power has gotten worse and is bad all the way up through the rpms now. The wastegate doesn't appear to be stuck open.

You can yank the MAP sensor out and clean it with some carb cleaner and it should work just fine after. I used brake cleaner last time mine was acting up .. lol

He did pull the MAP sensor and cleaned it with carb cleaner. He said it looked clean to begin with. No change yet. He is putting a new MAP sensor on today anyway.

A new MAP sensor seems to have solved the problem. Thanks for the suggestions.
