No crankshaft position sensor on 2001.5

Well I have been having troubles with my truck acting up. I've started changing sensors. Have changed all except the "Crankshaft sensor". Bought the sensor, looked up pictures in the forum, pulled the starter. No Sensor , just a cover screwed on the block. Looked on my Tech Authority CD, It looks like the 2001.5 doesn't have one, the Cam shaft sensor does the job for it. Looked back at the forums, all were 1999 models. I guess I should read everything before jumping in with both feet. The real sad thing is I was hoping this was the trucks problem, I guess not

well now it makes sense, I had a scan tool hooked to the truck the other day checking sensors, and the cmp sensor always showed 0. I wondered how the truck was running with no crank position sensor, now I know

Yea, I just went out to replace mine on my "2001".. NOT THERE

I guess it must be a 2001.5 because there was just a cover with a bolt over it in its spot. I thought maybe the previous owner messed up. So, now why does my tach die and why does it miss at idle at times??? Is it the cam sensor then??
