Question crankshaft position sensor

This is my first time posting anything on this site, but I have been reading the forums for a while. But anyway, I have a 99 CDT. The crankshaft sensor went out for the second time, first time under warranty, but not this time. I am sure I can change it myself but am not sure what to do to clear the code without going to the dealer and lose an arm and a leg. The Haynes manual I have says not to start engine with new sensor until code has been cleared, and will driving with an uncleared code ruin the new sensor. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I changed mine out and then went to a local Autozone parts house and they cleared the code at no charge! I have not noticed any problems since.
