New Problem - Fuel Leak

Started noticing a pretty strong fuel smell when I got out of the truck last night. Didn't think too much about it, but just looked under the truck at work, and sure 'nuff - fuel leak.

From first looks, it appears to be coming from the fuel filter canister. I thought that maybe the water drain-off valve wasn't shut all the way, but its not coming from there. Its actually coming from behind it. I can't get in there while at work to check it out completely, but I think its behind the plastic valve piece at the bottom of the canister.

Anyone out there ever had a fuel leak from the canister?

ive heard of it not shutting completly after draining due to lack of use. i would open and close it a few times might losen it up a bit. i only use the valve on mine like twice a year, but havent had any problems with mine. make sure u torque the canister nut to 10 ft.lb. no more no less or u will get a leak from there.

Yes, My cannister leaked around where the wires for the fuel heater enter the canister. There really is no way to fix this, so I replaced mine with one from a 2001.

I belive it was cheaper, and I can now change the filter from the top. It bolted right up to mouting holes.

I took the oportunity to re plumb my fuel lines at the time for an under the hood fuel pressure gauge, pre filter, and I Just check it now and then to make sure the LP is doing its job.

I used push lock hose and fittings, they are holding up very well, and have never leaked.

Check my gallery for photos....
