new lift pump but still hard to start

I know what everyone is gonna say is the problem, but lemme just spit some info out.

What I have:
Brand spankin' new lift pump
Brand new fuel filter
When cold the truck starts hard
P1639 (i think, don't remember) error code
P0336 (i think, don't remember) error code
20+ psi of boost
12+ psi fuel @ WOT

What I don't have:
A P0216 error code
A plethora of power
A slipping clutch

So...anything OTHER than the vp44?

Not sure what those codes are, but make sure BOTH preheater grids are working. I have seen several recently with a cold starting problem, and found that only one grid was working. The culprit in each case was the relays.

P0336: Crankshaft Position Sensor (CKP) Signal
There's a rash of that goin' around right now...hard to start, lots of white smoke.
Might be the wiring connector to the CKP or it might be a bad CKP. Wish I could be more help.
