Well I have my new pump installed. I have 13 @ idle and it will drop to about 7# WO. Is this normal? What is everybody else running. Oh yea and 11# at cruising speed.

Thanks,

Kimrey

Re:new fuel pump

When I changed my lift pump, the new one gave me a solid:
15psi @ idle
13psi @ cruise
11psi @ WOT
These pressures are flat ground, running empty.
Have you changed the fuel filter?
There have been some "out of the box" failures of brand new pumps..

Re:new fuel pump

Shovelhead, I changed my fuel filter about 10k ago. It could be that. I didn't think it would loose no more than a pound across the filter. I have also thought about this. I had to use the grease gun hose to mount my gauge. Would I loose some through the hose to the sending unit? This pump is supposed to be the most up to date one. The dealer had to order it.

Kimrey

Re:new fuel pump

The pressue should remain constant even through the rubber hose.
The new pressures just seem a tad low to me. [undecided]
If it was me, I'd try a new filter just for "giggles and grins" to see if the pressures came up some.
Don't get the filter at the dealer though.
Go to Cummins and save about $30.

Yea, I get mine at Genoe's. I guess I need to give them a call! I was thinking the same thing, that the numbers were a tad low. Oh well, I can keep driving it and change the filter, but keep an eye on the o'l gauge.

Thanks,

Kimrey

Re:new fuel pump

Hi Kimrey, after seeing your low fuel pressure in ashville a few weeks ago ordered fuel pressure guage and at idle when warm is 13psi wot 9 psi with new fuel filter. But when truck cold first thing in morning drops to 6psi and 0 upon accel. After it warms up goes up to 13 again after 20 to 30 minutes of driving. Stopped by dealer and they ordered new pump today.

Cool. I've notice that pressure is about a pound or so low when its cold, but not that low . Let me know what your new pressures are when you get the other one on. It was good seeing you again in Ashboro. Merry Christmas ALL!!!

Kimrey

Re:new fuel pump

You must have the same pump I do. Those pressures are identical to mine. Except I get those with all of my banjo bolts replaced. The Holley Black is sitting in my room right now, waiting for the installation kit.
